Vitra has reported how a family of four can save up to 312 tons of water a year by using its products, including taps, bathroom products and cisterns.

Vitra's offering includes taps with temperature and flow adjustable cartridges (saving an average of 146.5 tons in the kitchen and bathrooms); bathroom products using Vitraclean technology reduces the frequency of cleaning by 25 per cent saving eight tons of cleaning water annually; and 3/6-litre Vitra dual-flush cisterns can help a family of four save up to 48 litres of water a day.

The Vitra MOD collection uses up less energy, material and packaging to consume less water.

A new generation of 2.5/4-litre cisterns have been developed by Vitra, which can save up to 64 litres of water a day.

A special dual-flush mechanism developed by Vitra can be retrofitted to existing WC-cistern combinations currently in use, which provides 3/6-litre dual flushing - saving water by up to 40 per cent.

Vitra has commissioned international designers to create products and ranges within this overall context.

The Vitra MOD collection by Ross Lovegrove uses up less energy, material and packaging to consume less water and are stylish products with slim profiles.

The Vitra Water Jewels collection by Matteo Thun promotes lower water consumption due to the inner height in the bath being lowered to 30cm, which also offers greater convenience to elderly and special-needs users.

Many other Vitra products combine to effect maximum water-saving technologies and Vitra has had these independently tested and verified by recognised institutions.
