PVC floor tiles meet university safety standards

Tileplans has supplied its PVC interlocking floor tiles that meet health and safety regulations at an automotive laboratory in the University of Huddersfield.

The university put various tiles and flooring surfaces through a rigorous health and safety test before choosing a PVC floor tile from the Tileplans range.

A soft compound floor tile was chosen because it is better to walk on and it prevents slipping.

This tile also offers acoustic flooring benefits.

The automotive laboratory includes a wind tunnel for research and equipment to test engines, suspensions and forces on car wheels, as well as for testing engine efficiency using different types of fuels or biofuels.

Tileplans PVC interlocking floor tiles were preferred to other flooring solutions to keep disruption to the laboratory's equipment and activities to a minimum during installation.

Tileplans conducted a survey of the laboratory floor and completed health and safety assessments on both product supply and installation before installing the PVC interlocking floor tiles.

Red tiles were used for the majority of the laboratory flooring, with dark-green tiles being deployed to distinguish walkways.

The interlocking clear logo tiles were also used to add messages within the laboratory flooring.

Logo tiles can be used to add health and safety signs within a floor.

According to Tileplans, the University of Huddersfield automotive laboratory is one of several laboratory flooring projects using its PVC interlocking floor tiles to meet health and safety regulations.

Such regulations have also been an important factor for industrial customers using Tileplans PVC interlocking floor tiles and some have deployed 'line marker' tiles to distinguish zones within the floor.
