Rug designs incorporate natural-world patterns
Esti Barnes of Top Floor has unveiled her latest collection of handmade rug designs, drawing on various patterns found in the natural world.
Each rug can be customised to individual specifications in terms of colour, size and shape.
The Eloise rug features repeating geometric patterns executed by a graduating tone effect and gentle ridges formed of silk
Endymion, the first of the five new rugs, is said to be inspired by classical and poetic references.
The textured design is made mainly of pure silk, with a wool- and silk-ridged background.
The Everlasting rug continues the 3D motif; this design features a raised pattern of curving and intersecting lines, as though ethereal tracks have been drawn across a mysterious landscape, according to Barnes.
This rug is hand-tufted in 100 per cent wool.
Europa is said to be reminiscent of ice crystals forming their delicate ephemeral patterns as they develop.
This sculpted design is named after the frozen moon of Jupiter and is also hand-tufted in 100 per cent wool.
Eloise is described as a 'modern retro' concept; it features repeating geometric patterns executed by a graduating tone effect and gentle 'ridges' formed of silk.
The Eloise rug is hand-knotted in 100 per cent silk.
Finally, Emmenthal combines decoupage and graduating tone, creating a 100 per cent wool design.
This hand-tufted wool rug is also available in a round design.
