The Platonic Fireplace Company has installed two fireplaces as part of the GBP38m refurbishment of the five-star Montcalm Hotel in Mayfair, London.

Chosen for the foyer, the Flamewave from the Platonic Collection features a stone surround intersected by a gentle undulating wave-fronted shelf.

According to Barry Young, project manager for the refurbishment, the Flamewave fits in with the modern, contemporary feeling of the decor.

The Electroscape, another model from the Platonic Collection, was commissioned for the spa area of the hotel.

Young said: 'We wanted a feeling of fire, but we were unable to use a living flame.

'Platonic's Electroscape electronic fire, with its combination of contemporary styling and digital control, provided the perfect answer,' he added.
