Chimney creates focal point in glass-walled room
Architect Henry Harrison of The Platonic Fireplace Company has created a freestanding chimney is in a contemporary house in Surrey, designed by architect Wilkinson King.
This creation was part of Platonic's Firescheme special commissions service.
Shown here, this freestanding rectilinear chimney creates a focal area in a glass-walled room.
Harrison can adapt or combine ideas from his existing product range or design an absolute one-off.
The rectilinear chimney is intended to create a focal area in the glass-walled room, which 'floats' between inside and out.
A recessed burner supports a gas-fuelled 'living flame' that dances within the limestone frame.
