Architect Henry Harrison of The Platonic Fireplace Company has created a freestanding chimney is in a contemporary house in Surrey, designed by architect Wilkinson King.

This creation was part of Platonic's Firescheme special commissions service.

The rectilinear chimney is intended to create a focal area in the glass-walled room, which 'floats' between inside and out.

A recessed burner supports a gas-fuelled 'living flame' that dances within the limestone frame.
