Spaceway provides pallet racking system for Wiggle

A Spaceway Group product story

When internet-based sports equipment company Wiggle needed additional storage capacity to cater for its expanding order book, it turned to Romsey-based Spaceway Group.

To kick off the project, Spaceway's design team set about creating a design that would enable it to provide both storage and a picking area.

The racking system design, based on using a Linpac system, enables Wiggle to store around 500 pallets with forklift access and accommodates a pedestrian picking area above.

Pallets are stored on beam levels up to a height of 6m, with the end frames rising to more than 8m.

Walkways have been installed 6m high with lighting underneath so that a forklift truck can operate safely.

Spaceway has also decked out the beam levels for the storage of large boxes, which can be hand picked and accessed at any time.

Last year, Spaceway fitted out Wiggle's 2,800m2 headquarters in Portsmouth with offices and warehousing.

The company's designs catered for expansion as volume increased.
