Manchester hotel installs concealed door closers

A Samuel Heath and Sons product story
Edited by the Interiorstalk editorial team Aug 10, 2009

Perko Powermatic, a concealed, controlled door closer from Samuel Heath and Sons, has been installed at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate in Beetham Tower.

More than 400 door closers have been specified for the hotel, which is situated within the lower 23 floors of the 50-storey Beetham Tower.

Architect Ian Simpson of Manchester asked Laidlaw Solutions, a specialist architectural ironmonger, to provide a door closer that would meet all the necessary fire performance requirements while achieving a clean, unhindered appearance to complement the design of the hotel.

Colin Whittaker, key account manager at Laidlaw Solutions, recommended Perko Powermatic.

Leaderflush of Nottingham supplied the doors pre-morticed and ready to accept the closers.

Samuel Heath's concealed door closers are invisible when the door is closed.

Perko Powermatic offers fire-door accreditations and meets the requirements of Approved Document M.

The closer is said to be maintenance free and, being jamb mounted, it is also at reduced risk of vandalism.

It has no exposed surfaces, which can reduce cleaning times, making it suitable for a variety of situations in hotel, leisure, commercial, education and healthcare projects.
