Railex Systems has provided a mobile storage system for the Brit School in Croydon.

The science department now benefits from the Railex Rollastore range, which features single and double storage units that glide along a track set into a floor plinth and open out or close and lock together as desired.

The floor and track system can be relocated and is not fixed to the floor.

It incorporates a total of 10 bays, each containing a facility for seven storage levels.

Finished in Oyster White, the Rollastore specification includes keyed unit locks as well as aisle safety locks, anti-tilt safety throughout and solid backs to all bays.

The overall system occupies a length of 5.3m and a depth of 0.9m.

The system houses all of the varied items that constitute a busy science environment, such as microscopes, balances, testing equipment and spare motors.

John Laidlaw, head of science, said: 'We previously had a mixture of racks and cabinets, which made it difficult to see and locate items.

'The new system makes items much more accessible, while at the same time keeping them secure and in good condition.

'The mobile wheels are easy and light to use and just needing one key to lock or undo the entire unit is very convenient.

'The overall clean and modern appearance complements our environment,' he added.
