Wagiman bubble chair selected for Hoxton Hotel
Ben Rousseau's illuminated Wagiman bubble chair with bespoke Insa print etched into the clear Perspex surface now hangs from the ceiling of the Hoxton Hotel in London.
Insa's signature image, an abstraction of stiletto heels and striped tights, started out as the graffiti artist's tag.
The chair is lit up by a ring of LEDs, concealed under the steel trim from which the seat is suspended.
Having initially used the image to spell out his name, Insa's paintings then evolved into a pattern of what he describes as 'heels complete with legs and butts'.
Also featured in the Maya Nightclub in Soho, the Wagiman bubble chair is hand blown by Talbot Designs using a single piece of sandblasted Perspex complete with the Insa pattern.
The moulding of the chair had to support stretching to obtain the desired shape while retaining the clarity of Perspex and leaving no marks from the tool.
This chair is lit up by a ring of light-emitting diodes, which have been concealed under the steel trim from which the chair is suspended.
