Maytag dishwaters help reduce water consumption

Maytag's XXL 17 place-setting dishwashers are said to help homeowners reduce household water consumption and energy.

'If a household of four used a Maytag dishwasher, they could save at least 11,000 litres of water and 819KWh of electricity each year, saving considerable amounts of money and lots of time and they would be contributing to reducing their impact on the environment,' said Caroline Guillermard, product marketing manager at Maytag.

The freestanding and fully integrated dishwashers have a consumption of just 0.58 litres per place setting, or just 9.9 litres for a standard programme, and an 'A' rating in energy, cleaning and drying performance.

With a load height of 58cm packed into a standard-height machine, the XXL is designed to fit and adjust to kitchen cabinets with ease.

This large capacity for dirty dishes means that bigger loads can be washed, with 17 full place settings, compared with a standard 12 place setting maximum, providing 40 per cent more capacity than a standard dishwasher.

There are four wash levels and seven separate baskets, as well as 10 spray zones including three power zones.

The Maytag XXL 17 dishwasher includes a touch-control LCD display showing all options as well as the programme time remaining.

It also features a flexible four-level rack system, which incorporates up to seven baskets to cater for any sort of wash load in a range of configurations.

The two power zones situated in the lower rack are claimed to deliver excellent results even with dirty pots and pans, while the third power zone concentrates on the cutlery.

An auto-time programme automatically selects the best programme for the desired wash time.

The daily-wash 90-minute programme is ideal to obtain best results for a standard daily wash load, while the quick-wash programme is designed for lightly soiled glass and china.

The timesaver option saves between 30 and 80 minutes on a wash.

The tub, the loading racks, the spray pipe, the spray arms, the strainers, the outer base, the feet, the upper basket and the heater are all made of steel.

The XXL dishwasher delivers a low noise level of just 43dB(A).

A self-cleaning filter reduces daily maintenance.

The turbo fan-dry system ensures that the nooks and crannies are dried.

This latest Maytag dishwasher features leak-proof construction with a 16-point safety system.

There is also a 24-hour start delay to utilise off-peak energy deals.

The control panel is locked to prevent children from starting the dishwasher or changing the programme.

The XXL 17 place-setting dishwasher, available freestanding or fully integrated, measures 860mm or 890mm in height, 596mm or 600mm in width and 570mm in depth.
