Margot Neuhaus, half of the husband-and-wife team behind Island Stone UK, said its aim is to create high-quality products that are unique yet practical.

She added: 'Island Stone tiles and claddings are suitable in almost any application; be it a feature wall, a kitchen, bathroom, water feature or in and around a spa and swimming pool.

'This gives people the option and ability to create themes that can be continued throughout their entire house and garden, providing useable and workable surfaces without substituting style.

Island Stone also seeks to be as environmentally friendly as possible.

Nehaus added: 'We try to use waste instead of creating it and so gain optimum usage of all materials.

'As 90 per cent of our products are small format, we are able to utilise stone that other companies cannot.

'Our wall claddings have already been mined by others.

'They are made from by-products; stone that would otherwise have been discarded.

Island Stone also stresses the high quality of its tiles and claddings 'Because we are the manufacturer, we are able to implement strict quality controls which enable us to deliver goods of supreme standard,' said Nehaus.
