Howe Green provides floor covers for supermarket
Specialist tiling contractor Kingswood Tiling has chosen Howe Green's floor access covers for a refurbishment project at Sainsbury's in Chiswick.
Howe Green supplied 20 of its 7500 Series aluminium floor covers for the job.
The access panels were laid in a modern terrazzo floor finish on the main shop floor.
Their slim-line aluminium show edges are intended to present clean geometry.
The 7500 Series covers were chosen for their aesthetically pleasing properties and their ability to cope with heavy pedestrian traffic.
The aluminium range offers a cost-effective alternative to stainless steel, according to the company.
As the main contractor for the project, Longcross Construction carried out extensive refurbishment works at the store.
This included installing two drainage runs right through the middle of the shop floor.
Working as a subcontractor, Kingswood Tiling undertook all of the floor tiling work, including the fitting of Howe Green's access panels over the drainage runs.
The panels enabled essential access to the concealed drainage pipes.
The access panels were laid in a modern terrazzo floor finish on the main shop floor.
With the floors set to be subject to heavy foot traffic from shoppers and trolleys, a heavy-duty and tamper-resistant access solution was required.
They also had to fit 100 per cent flush with the floor to eliminate any possible customer or staff trips.
Howe Green's 7500 Series aluminium floor covers are double sealed to meet hygiene and security standards.
They are also corrosion and maintenance free, according to the company.
There are no fasteners to rust or break and the stainless-steel securing bolts are stiletto-heel proof.
The aluminium 7500 series is available in single, duct or multipart covers to suit a variety of applications.
They are also highly durable, capable of withstanding the pressure of up to a 5-tonne pneumatic-tyre wheel load (cars and light delivery vehicles), making them suitable for heavy-traffic areas such as the Sainsbury's store.
They can be produced to provide a three-hour fire rating to BS 476: Part 20: 1987.
