How to choose the correct rug
GH Frith, an importer of rugs and carpets, offers some tips on how to choose the correct rug.
If you are looking for something in a busy area, such as the hall, avoid plain and light rugs.
If the rug is the main feature of a room, go for something striking and eye-catching.
Patterns and dark rugs won't show up too many marks.
Do you want your rug to be the focal point of a room or just an accessory? If it is the main feature, go for something striking and eye-catching.
If it is just another accessory, then choose something that blends in with your existing colour scheme.
If your room is small, choose a plain light rug, big rooms can carry large patterns and darker colours and will make the room feel cosy.
Don't forget to keep your rug in top condition, rotate it once every few months to ensure colour and wear is kept even - particularly in areas with plenty of natural light.
