Econoloft encourages loft conversion investment
Loft conversion company Econoloft has reported a marked increase in orders and urged more homeowners to consider extending their living spaces.
Derek Livesey, managing director, said: 'People have been reluctant to invest in their homes due to worries about little or no return on their investment.
'Now, it seems that, at last, the tide has turned and it is clear that confidence in the property market is returning for the first time in more than a year.
Livesey added that, while extending living space continues to be one of the most popular ways for British homeowners to increase the value of their property, extensions should only be carried out by professional companies.
'You should always consider the impact that major work will have on the resale value of your home - whether that sale is in a year or 10 years' time,' he said.
According to Livesey, the 15 per cent VAT rate will be increased to 17.5 per cent in January 2010.
