Dupont Corian unveils sustainable home concept

Smart-ologic Corian Living is an interior design project from Dupont Corian and Karim Rashid for the April 2010 Milan week of design.

Smart-ologic is a smart and environmentally sustainable home concept that features 'futuristic types' of Dupont Corian made with environmentally sustainable bio-sourced components and recycled materials.

The project will also display other high-tech Dupont solutions to decrease the environmental imprint of the interior design, architectural and building industries, while delivering aesthetic and technical quality.

All the areas of the home - kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, living room, garden - will be creatively interpreted by Karim Rashid and populated by a variety of smart home design solutions where Dupont Corian will be the key player and the connecting element.

The design of Rashid is complemented by Dupont's knowledge of materials science, biology, chemistry and manufacturing technologies.

Dupont science and technology teams have designed and engineered futuristic types of Dupont Corian made with environmentally sustainable bio-sourced components and with recycled content.

In addition, they have designed a new type of Dupont Zodiaq quartz surface and Dupont Energain phase change material, also including environmentally sustainable bio-sourced ingredients.

Dupont sees these materials as possible options to meet the emerging technical and environmental challenges that the interior design, architecture and building sector will have to face in the future.

The project manager of Smart-ologic Corian Living exhibition is architect Massimo Fucci, an international consultant and contact for Dupont Surfaces.
