De Christo provides timber flooring for polo shop

De Christo has supplied oak-engineered timber flooring for luxury polo clothing shop Polistas situated in The Village at the Westfield shopping centre in Shepherds Bush, London.

Polistas recently opened a shop at the Westfield shopping centre and required a revised identity that could be rolled out as franchises around the world.

To emphasise its grass-roots polo heritage, Polistas wanted to make sure the floorcovering in its new shops was authentic and rugged looking, while the rest of the interior is more modern and stylish, featuring saddle leather, rich wallcoverings, stainless steel and glass.

Johnny Lynn, founder of Polistas and a professional polo player, asked De Christo to create a bespoke finish that looked very old but that could easily be replicated and shipped to other parts of the world.

De Christo developed a floorboard without tongue and groove, in keeping with boards of a certain bygone era, and embellished the boards with cross-grain cuts and partial sanding to provide an old look and texture.

The company offers a variety of bespoke engineered timber flooring.

As well as standard ranges, De Christo produces various lengths, widths, thicknesses, surfaces and aesthetic qualities.

The company visits timber yards to pick out individual logs for its clients.
