Cooper delivers energy-saving lighting scheme
A new lighting scheme using intelligent luminaires manufactured by Cooper Lighting is expected to significantly reduce energy consumption at the head office of the Ipswich Building Society.
Located in the town's Ransomes Europark development, the head office had previously been equipped with four 36W switch-start Category 2 modular fittings.
The luminaires are equipped with 4,000K triphosphor compact fluorescent lamps, a high-frequency dimmable control gear and the Cooper plug-and-play Connect Wiring System
When the lighting was refurbished, these were replaced by Cooper's Intellect Digital Combiform Plus semi-recessed luminaires, which use a combination of direct and indirect illumination to create a high-quality lit environment.
To achieve maximum energy efficiency, the new luminaires provide occupancy-detection and daylight-monitoring facilities and can be linked together in programmable zones to suit the needs of staff working in the building.
The luminaires are equipped with 4,000K triphosphor compact fluorescent lamps, a high-frequency dimmable control gear and Cooper's plug-and-play Connect Wiring System, which facilitates the connection of the mains power to the luminaires.
The new lighting scheme is more efficient than the previous generation of luminaires and it has delivered immediate energy savings by reducing the total number of fittings required by almost 10 per cent.
All installation work was carried out by Ipswich-based electrical contractor Robert Forsdike.
