Chesney's and the KLC School of Design have together presented the Pacific chimneypiece and the Fibonacci fire basket.

This collaboration involved a competition with KLC, which formed a large part of the student syllabus, the objective of which was to design a chimneypiece and a mantel for sale at Chesney's.

As a competition, students had to design a chimneypiece and a mantel.

As a competition, students had to design a chimneypiece and a mantel.

The winning designs - the Pacific chimneypiece, designed by Kuew Lih, and the Fibonacci fire basket, designed by Tara Wilson Craig - have been manufactured and will be exhibited in the showroom as part of the Chesney's reproduction range.

The Asian influence removed Lih's design from the conventional fireplace style and combined East and West, taking traditional English proportions and shape and mixing them with an Asian aesthetic.

The contemporary chimneypiece incorporates a simple design and little detail.

Wilson Craig's Fibonacci fire basket is described as both sophisticated and understated in an 18th-century design form.

The fire basket is designed to be suitable for most rooms.
