Chandelier to be installed in Dryland development
The Quantum Pop Cascade chandelier from Bruce Munro is soon to be installed in the stairwell of Dryland Business Residences, the first of a new generation of hybrid serviced offices and members clubs.
Located on Kensington High Street in central London, the new venture is masterminded by Jon Hunt, founder of Foxtons Estate Agency.
The Quantum Pop chandelier is a fibre optic piece, like many of Bruce Munros special lighting fixtures
The Quantum Pop chandelier is a fibre-optic piece, like many of Bruce Munro's special lighting fixtures - and uses a single 150W metal halide projector.
However, the design marks a new departure and edges closer to the values of Munro's art installations, such as Field of Light and CDSea.
Quantum Pop Cascade is a large-scale 'waterfall' of six pendants, each measuring 90cm in diameter.
They are staggered up and down the central stairwell with a drop of 10m and suspended from a crescent-shaped ceiling plate, detailed to suit the curve of the staircase at Dryland.
Each 90cm sphere is stuffed with 23 small spheres, illuminated by five fibre-optic cables curled within them.
According to the company, it's as if the smaller spheres describe the minimum value of the larger spheres - hence the name 'Quantum Pop'.
