Barnes creates modern kitchen for country cottage

A Barnes of Ashburton product story

Barnes of Ashburton has provided a bespoke kitchen design for a period-style cottage.

Located in a period property, the cottage kitchen was described as a real challenge in terms of technical details; no wall was straight and the floor was also uneven.

With a low ceiling and a number of doors into the room, storage was maximised with deep drawers and bespoke cabinets were created within the unused and awkward spaces.

Bookshelves where designed in the area beneath the stairs and a plate rack and open shelving for display all help to keep the room light, according to the company.

Avoiding wall-mounted cabinets in this small kitchen is intended to help maintain an open feel.

The kitchen features fresh painted cabinets and a light stone floor, as well as black granite work surfaces and stained bun handles on the units.

The modern, country-style room is finished off with a handmade kitchen table.
